disclaimer
Epoxy resin is a versatile plastic used for various applications such as coatings, adhesives and molded parts. It consists of a mixture of epoxy resin and hardener, which undergo a chemical reaction when cured.
The end result when using epoxy resin can be influenced by many factors. These include the exact mixing ratio of epoxy resin and hardener, the ambient temperature and humidity during the curing process, the type and condition of the substrate on which the resin is applied, as well as careful and professional application and storage.
Due to these numerous variable factors, no guarantee can be given for the end result when using epoxy resin. The quality and durability of the resin depends largely on the parameters mentioned and correct processing. It is therefore important to carefully follow the manufacturer's instructions and, if necessary, carry out tests in advance to check the suitability of the epoxy resin for the specific application.
Frequently asked questions about the Resin Art Series.
Can you combine your different resin systems?
The answer is no. Thick film (D600), thin film resin (E45) and Resin Art Series are coordinated systems and must not be mixed together, as this can lead to strong reactions and usually to the failure of the project.
However, it is possible to pour a layer of thick film onto an already cured layer of thin film resin or Resin-Art-Series and vice versa.
What types of epoxy resin are there?
Epoxy resin offers a wide range of possibilities and uses. Nevertheless, it makes sense to use different products depending on the type of project. We provide an overview of our epoxy products and their respective uses.
E45 universal resin - our classic The E45 universal resin is an absolute all-rounder and has therefore been available in our shop for the longest time. The resin is ideal for topcoats and for laminating and can also be used for coating GRP mats, among other things. In addition, smaller projects can also be completed in one go.
Quick facts about E45: 🔵 Mixing ratio: 100g resin / 45-50g hardener
🔵 ideal processing temperature: 20°C
🔵 Cooking time: up to 45 minutes
🔵 Duration of curing usually 24 hours
🔵 Layer height per process: approx. 1cm
🔵 high UV protection
D600 thick film resin - Large projects in one casting process In stark contrast to the E45, the D600 thick film resin offers the advantage of being able to cast layers up to a maximum height of 10cm. This makes the resin particularly popular for the production of river tables, epoxy panels and generally projects that require a higher layer count.
Attention: Depending on the total amount mixed and the ambient temperature, the maximum layer thickness of 10cm can change. Further details can be found on the product page and in the enclosed instructions. Quick facts about the D600: 🔵 Mixing ratio: 100g resin / 50g hardener
🔵 ideal processing temperature: 17°C
🔵 Duration of curing usually 72 hours
🔵 Layer height per process: approx. 10cm
🔵 high UV protection
Resin Art - Easy to use & great results Thanks to the particularly user-friendly mixing ratio and medium viscosity, the epoxy resin in our Resin Art Series is particularly suitable for creative and artistic projects. These include fluid art, top coating, jewelry design, but also mold casting for coasters, bookmarks and many other exciting applications.
Quick facts about ResinArt: 🔵 simple 1:1 mixture
🔵 medium-high viscosity
🔵 Duration of curing approx. 18 hours
🔵 crystal clear & high gloss
🔵 High UV protection
🔵 non-toxic & food safe
Can I coat already cured epoxy resin with new, uncured epoxy resin?
Yes , provided the bottom layer has already completely hardened, a new layer can be poured on very easily. Please ensure that the hardened layer is free of foreign bodies, as well as grease, oil and moisture. If the first pour was made more than 3 days ago, we recommend sanding the bottom layer with 150 grit sandpaper.
Can I color the epoxy resin?
Yes! We always supply epoxy resin transparent and crystal clear. However, there are color pigments, color pastes and color inks that you can add when mixing epoxy resin to color the material according to your wishes.
What colors are available for coloring epoxy resin?
We offer 4 different colors :
- Metallic color pigments: powder pigments with intense, shimmering effects. Ideal for marbled or deep structures in epoxy resin. - opaque .
- Color pastes : Highly concentrated, creamy colors that color the resin completely and are easy to dose. - opaque
- Color inks : Liquid, semi-transparent colors that provide gentle color gradients and subtle color accents. - semi-transparent
- Alcohol inks : Alcohol-based inks that create dynamic effects such as color explosions or cell structures in resin art. - semi-transparent
